Stakeholder Dialogue

Acting sustainably as an international company requires the constant engagement with different stakeholders. Only so can we establish mutual trust, contribute to spreading sustainable concepts and receive feedback about our own actions.

Shareholder Dialogue

OSRAM's success comes from its employees and as a global employer it treats each employee with appreciation and respect. Not only do we offer a fair salary and attractive benefits, but also a motivating working environment and an atmosphere of trust. In addition, every employee has the possibility of fully developing their capabilities and their professional and personal skills. In order to continue at the forefront of the competitive and dynamic environment of the changing lighting market, we offer our employees a number of programs, projects and activities for further training.

Customers and Consumers

OSRAM's success is closely linked to the satisfaction of our customers. We therefore measure it constantly using the Net Promoter Score (NPS). The customer satisfaction survey not only provides one of our most important indices, it is also the starting point for identifying ways in which we can make sustainable improvements to our products, solutions, and services to further increase satisfaction. The positive development of the NPS over the last few years confirms our decision to consistently pursue this strategy.

We have also established a global key account management team for our customer relations. In addition, members of the Managing Board are in direct two-way contact with our customers to understand their requirements even better.

Shareholder and capital market

OSRAM Licht AG is a publicly listed corporation with a broad base of shareholders. Our goal is a transparent and open dialogue with our shareholders and the capital market. The following pages offer you all relevant information to accurately assess OSRAM’s value and potential as well as to get in contact with us.

Sustainability plays an important role in the supply chain as part of a global economy. We expect our suppliers to adhere to basic values in human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and the fight against corruption, among others. In order to ensure this we hold intensive discussions with our suppliers to create a common understanding of basic values. In addition, we use tools and processes to support our suppliers as implementation partners and to verify compliance.

Politics and Society

Cooperation for spreading sustainable solutions
Looking beyond our internal requirements, we are committed to contributing to a sustainable change in the lighting sector. That is why we are in dialog with many organizations and associations, are participating in initiatives, and have built long-term partnerships. As early as 2012, OSRAM joined the Global LEAP and GOGLA sustainability initiatives, which are planning to provide access to sustainable energy and efficient lighting solutions throughout the world, particularly in regions without permanent power supply. Diverse cooperation agreements are an important and proven approach for OSRAM. We are able to share the knowledge and expertise we have gained in our WE!Hub project in Kenya together with local and international companies, organizations, and institutions and use them in further initiatives. We have further intensified our long-term commitment in the Lighting Europe industrial association and in the UNEP en.lighten initiative in the area of standard grid-based lighting.

  • Associations:
Sometimes common initiatives are required for a sustainable changes on the market. We are a member of the European LightingEurope Association which represents leading European lighting manufacturers and national associations. LightingEurope is strongly committed to innovation, sustainability, quality and market leadership in the lighting sector. The association makes a decisive contribution to designing guidelines and establishing industry standards. LightingEurope promotes the use of clean and efficient lighting for a comfortable, safe, healthy and sustainable environment. Technical standards are prepared in international standardization bodies such as the IEC/CIE (International Electrotechnical Commission/International Commission on Illumination) which offer a broad interchangeability of lighting technologies.
  • Governments and authorities:
We provide expert support to governments and authorities for finding sustainable development solutions and play an active role in the development of guidelines for using energy-saving lighting technology. In addition, we are in contact with authorities throughout the world to create collection and recycling systems in the same way they were created in Europe following the WEEE directive.
  • Neighbors:
As a global company we are also committed to our local responsibilities. OSRAM is based at a number of locations worldwide. At these locations our neighbors and other local stakeholders are particularly important for us. Our site coordinators are responsible for dialogs with our neighbors, always tailored to the actual situation on site.
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs):
There are a number of non-governmental organizations throughout the world which pursue different goals and also place demands on OSRAM when it comes to implementation. We organize contact in different ways, e.g. by individual meetings or participation in conferences.
  • Legislation regarding inefficient lighting:
Many countries worldwide have already put in place statutory regulations for a transition to more efficient lighting technologies.

Prominent examples for Stakeholder Dialogue:

The Initiative en.lighten

The UNEP en.lighten initiative - a partnership between UNEP, Philips Lighting, National Lighting Test Center and OSRAM - addresses the challenge of accelerating global market transformation to environmentally sustainable lighting technologies.

UN Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is a framework for businesses that are committed to values beyond mere profit. It sets forth principles that ask companies to embrace, support and work towards making them universally accepted.
