FAQs about your application

How can I apply to OSRAM? Where can I set up a user profile? This is where you can find answers to all the most important questions about applications, thesis projects, internships and doctorates with OSRAM.

How can I apply to OSRAM?

You can apply through our applicant management platform. To do this, first set up a user account, read and accept the data protection regulations and then register yourself as a new user.

You can apply both for permanent positions or for internships, thesis projects and traineeships. Don’t forget to upload additional relevant documents such as a resume, graduation certificates and certificates about individual additional qualifications (time spent abroad, references etc.).

Why apply online?

We now only accept applications through our applicant management platform. This enables us to process your applications much faster than through the traditional postal route.

Why must I set up a user account?

On the one hand you record your profile data in your user account only once. As you can only apply for any advertised job openings with a set up user account, there is no need to enter your data again for each application. On the other hand, you can see the status of your application through your user account, store any jobs that interest you, manage your password and your profile, set up a job agent or delete your profile. This automatically informs you about new job openings that match your profile.

How long does an online application take?

In our experience you need around 15 to 20 minutes to set up a user account and create a candidate profile. Once a profile has been set up, the application for an advertised job only takes a further one to two minutes. You simply have to assign your profile to an advertised job, but you should also check your profile beforehand to ensure that it is up-to-date.

How can I upload additional documents?

You can add files (such as a covering note, résumé /CV, references and study records) to your application under the “Attachments” tab.

Is there a limit to the number of additional attachments that can be uploaded (resume, certificates etc.)?

Yes, you can attach at a maximum of 25 files of five megabyte each.

Are there maximum file sizes for attachments (resume, certificates, etc.)?

You can attach a maximum of 25 files of five megabytes each.

Are the jobs that I find in the online job board still open?

The job advertisements on our career pages are constantly updated. So you can be sure that all the published posts are still to be filled.

Is the application more likely to succeed if the applicant makes a phone call?

We are happy to answer any specific questions if they are crucial for your application. All other questions will be explained in detail in an interview. A phone call has no influence on the decision.

Is there a contact person for job offers?

There is a contact person who will answer your questions about the job advertisement or, if necessary, pass on your questions to the responsible body. You will find the contact data of the relevant contact person at the end of each job advertisement.

I am interested in several jobs. Is one application enough?

You first have the option to prepare a general candidate profile. You can assign this profile to a certain job advertisement at any time. This ensures that you only need to enter and store your data and attachments once, but it can be used repeatedly for different job applications.

How long should I apply before the given recruitment date?

We recommend that you apply for any published jobs as early as possible, as the whole application process – from receipt of an application to the final decision – can take some time.

I cannot find a suitable post on the job board at the moment. Can I still submit an unsolicited application?

Yes. In order to do this, you need to set up a general candidate profile on our applicant management platform. This is where our recruiters actively look for suitable candidates for new or open jobs and then get in contact with them. We recommend that any interested parties also have themselves informed about new open job posts by email. You can also subscribe to our job alerts as an option in the candidate profile.

Can I re-apply after previously being rejected?

We are happy for you to re-apply for an advertised job at any time.

Can I speak directly to the department concerned?

Unfortunately it is not possible to carry out a talk directly with the department. We first need a comprehensive application from you. If your profile sounds interesting for our company we will be in contact with you to discuss the next steps, to carry out a telephone interview with you and, as necessary, to get to know you personally.

Which documents are absolutely necessary?

A resume is obligatory. The covering letter is not an obligatory document. We recommend, however, that you upload a covering letter and your last corresponding reference.

How long will my application data be stored in the database?

After your last respective log-in, the data remains stored for six months in accordance with the provisions of data protection law. This period begins again if you log in once more and check your profile. You receive an email well before expiry of the six month period, informing you that your profile will be deleted if you do not log in again.

Can the online application be saved before it is complete?

Yes, at any time! Just click on the “Save” button (on the bottom left of your online application). Then, if you want to continue your application, go to the online job portal and click on “Register”, log in with your account data, then click on your name on the top right. A drop-down menu opens where you select “Profile”. You can then change or complete this.

If I change my own profile as an applicant, does this update the application(s) that I have already sent off?

Yes. Any subsequent changes to applications that have already been sent are carried over and your current applications are updated this way. The recruiters receive a system notification that you have changed your profile.

After sending off my application, can I still make changes retrospectively or exchange documents and/or submit them at a later stage?

Yes. If you have uploaded the wrong documents in error, you can simply exchange these in your profile for the latest versions. Your ongoing application is updated this way. The recruiters automatically receive a message that you have changed your profile.

Why must I agree to a privacy policy statement?

The issue of data protection is of central importance to OSRAM. For this reason it is important that you know how we handle your data.

How can I receive job notifications?

When you set up a profile, you can indicate which jobs you are interested in. You can then activate the check box at the bottom in the “Profile” tab to receive an email notification if a new job is posted that matches your profile.
